Kwanzaa

Our Kwanzaa department carries a full line of Kwanzaa Items – Kinara, Mat (Mkeka), Seven Candles (Mishumaa Saba), Unity Cups (Kikombe Cha Umoja), Kwanzaa Cards, Green-Red-Black Flags & Resource Books.

The annual seven-day celebration begins the day after Christmas, December 26, and ends on New Year'’ Day, January 1. Kwanzaa was created by cultural scholar Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966. The vision of Kwanzaa has resulted in one the most important celebration by African American.

It fosters a reunion of families and friends. It creates a positive mood. It recognizes African American achievements, and is a time for cultural and rededication to strong family values.
