"The Tuskegee Airmen"

"The Tuskegee Airmen" by Philip Brooks
"When the United States entered World War II, the U.S. military was segregated. Black soldiers were not allowed to fight alongside whites. The same was true of pilots. The Army Air Corps did not agree even to train African American pilots until 1940. But when the Tuskegee Airmen finally saw action late in World War II, they quickly proved they were equal to any soldier in the air."
